my pit fire piece is a fish but also a small vase. The technique i used was coiling, i then made it smooth. The colors are from salt, smoke, acid, sugar and plant matter.
So I didn’t exactly do a tray but i did do a set! The skull is hollow and inside is painted gold. I also made the tea candle holders to fit inside of the skull when not in use. The skull can be used as a candle holder aswell!
this is my mosaic. It is two people holding hands. The guys gand turned out black ( not what i expected )... also decided not to go with grout & just paint it grout color instead.
We went half-and-half took turns doing the face I painted the eyes and nose. Val & Rachel were my group. The first steps of building this was the skeleton and the vague form. Then, start forming more prominent facial features with the papper mache. When you’re pleased with the form then you wait for it to dry and start to paint!
This sgraffito piece is called My Mind. It is a tray obviously space themed. I used various sized drill bits to achieve the carved out stars/ planets... it also gives good dimension. I am very satisfied with my sgraffito piece... but if i was to change anything it would be maybe adding coasters or little bowls to make it a set.
My Tri-pod mug. From its beginning, just a plain ole cylinder of clay, to a finished product! I like how the turquoise and yellow contrast the deep brown. Also, I chose the speckled glaze because of its hints of dark turquoise as well. What i would’ve done differently would be painting the rim deep brown and the inside solid turquoise. Otherwise from that I am pleased. :)
